One thing I love about The Pea's kindergarten class -- and her whole school, actually -- is the diversity. This melting-pot of backgrounds and cultures and ideas is one of the things we love about living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In Pea's kindergarten class of twenty children, ten are of Caucasian descent, three of Indian descent, two of Asian, and one of Hispanic descent. The other four are mixed-race children. Out of these twenty, eleven kids have one or both parents who grew up in another country. Eight of them speak a language other than English at home.
Here they are at this week's Spring Concert, looking like a bunch of spring flowers themselves (see if you can spot The Pea). I look at them and see this rainbow of children. And it makes me happy that my kids are growing up in such a colorful community.

Cute! ...and you sure know about her class! hehe I know how many of what decent in my son's class but has no idea about where their parents were (tho it's likely all but one were born here in the USA) and no idea if they speak more than English (other than one family).

That's a great picture they all look so sweet.
Hopefully with so much diversity these days and with schools educating for all faiths, backgrounds and cultures we will see less and less ignorance and racism.

yup, ok naman dun. took that shot on our Aeta Trail at Zoobic. mas maganda punta kayo dun early, para yung mga tour guides di pa pagod. specially during peak seasons (like summer, christmas and lenten breaks), at di pa masyadong mainit. :)

We live in a small town but my kids attend a tiny Montessori school which is fairly colorful considering the size of our community. Their "End Of The Year Celebration" looked a lot like yours!!

What a great photo and opportunity for Pea. My daughter has 22 kids in her class, of them, 2 are Chinese and one is African-American. Most of the kids in the upper grades (in fact I think all of the kids) are Caucasian.
Is there anything more wonderful than kids performing?

i wish my 5-year old's class/school is as diverse are yours. he is the only non-Caucasian in his kindergarten class of 16. and the only one of three in the entire kindergarten program. sadly, there are only 3 African-Americans, one Indian, and less than 10 of Hispanic descent in the entire school of 700 (K-12). plans to move him to a more diverse school is under way...
